CONSERVATORY ROOF REPLACEMENT
Conservatory roof replacement in Kent and Medway
A glass or polycarbonate conservatory roof leaves you with a room that is uncomfortable in summer, cold in winter and loud in the rain. Replacing that roof with a lightweight insulated tiled roof changes the room without changing the footprint of your house.
What the work actually involves
The existing roof covering is removed and taken away. A lightweight insulated roof structure is built onto the existing frame, insulated, weatherproofed and tiled externally. Internally you are left with a finished plastered ceiling rather than exposed glazing bars.
The conservatory walls, floor and frames usually stay where they are, which is why the work is far less disruptive than rebuilding the room.
What changes for you
- A room that is usable in more of the year rather than only in mild weather.
- An insulated, plastered ceiling in place of glazing bars and panels.
- Rain noise reduced compared with a polycarbonate roof.
- The option of roof windows or glazed panels where you want to keep natural light.
- Tiles chosen to sit sensibly alongside the existing roof on the house.
How much difference you notice depends on your existing conservatory, its glazing, its orientation and how the room is heated. We will talk that through honestly at survey rather than quoting figures that may not apply to your property.
HOW IT WORKS
Three clear steps
1. Free survey and quotation
We visit, measure, look at the existing structure and talk through what you want from the room. You receive a written quotation. There is no charge and no obligation.
2. Design and compliance
We confirm the specification, agree tile and any glazing choices with you, and establish what is required for your property in terms of structural suitability, Building Regulations and, where relevant, planning permission.
3. Installation
The old roof comes off and is taken away. The new insulated roof goes on, and the room is left with a finished ceiling.
What we confirm before any work starts
These are property-specific and we will not give you a blanket answer over the phone:
- Structural suitability. Whether the existing base, walls and frame can carry the new roof.
- Building Regulations. What applies to your conversion and how it is dealt with.
- Planning permission. Whether it is required for your property, which depends on the property and its location.
- Existing faults. Any leaks, movement or damage in the existing structure that need addressing first.
Full answers to these and ten other common questions are on the FAQs on our home page.
