DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

You have the extra space. You just cannot use it comfortably.

Stifling in summer

Glare and trapped heat can make the room uncomfortable on bright days.

Freezing in winter

Poor roof insulation lets valuable warmth escape when temperatures fall.

Deafening in rain

Heavy rain on a polycarbonate roof can overpower conversation and television.

Condensation and draughts

An ageing roof can leave the room feeling damp, tired and separate from your home.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know before requesting a quote.

Do I need planning permission?

A conservatory roof replacement will not typically need planning permission, but every property and scheme is different. Listed buildings, conservation areas and previous planning conditions can change the position. We will discuss your property during the survey and explain what checks are needed.

How long does the work take?

A lightweight roof replacement is designed to be completed efficiently. The exact programme depends on the size, shape, access and condition of your existing conservatory. We will confirm a realistic installation timeframe in writing after the survey.

Will a tiled roof make my conservatory darker?

There will be less overhead light than with a clear roof, but the windows continue to bring light into the room. A pale plastered ceiling and carefully positioned roof glazing, where suitable, can help retain a bright, comfortable feel.

Is it as heavy as a conventional tiled roof?

No. The system is designed specifically as a lightweight conservatory roof. We still inspect the existing frames and base before recommending work, because the whole structure must be suitable for the proposed replacement.

What guarantee do I get?

The applicable workmanship and product guarantee will be set out clearly with your quotation. Ask us for the written terms, duration, exclusions and whether any part is insurance-backed before you decide to proceed.

Can you match my existing roof tiles?

We can discuss tile profiles and colours that complement your home. An exact match cannot always be guaranteed because existing materials weather over time, but we will show you the available options before work starts.

Do I need Building Regulations approval?

Replacing a glazed or polycarbonate conservatory roof with a solid roof can require Building Regulations approval. The correct route depends on the existing structure and the proposed work. We will explain the applicable checks and certification route after surveying your conservatory.

How do you know whether my conservatory can support the new roof?

We inspect the existing frames, connections and supporting structure before recommending a roof system. If anything needs further investigation or strengthening, we will explain it before work is agreed.

How much does a tiled conservatory roof cost?

The price depends on the roof’s size, shape, access, insulation specification, tile finish, internal ceiling and any roof glazing required. A survey allows us to provide a written quotation based on your actual conservatory rather than an unreliable headline price.

Can roof windows or glazed panels be included?

They may be possible depending on the roof design and structure. During the survey, we can discuss how much natural light you want to retain and whether roof glazing is suitable for your project.

Will the work be disruptive?

There will be normal installation noise and the conservatory will be out of use while work is underway. We plan access with you, protect the working area and explain the expected programme before starting.

What happens to the old glass or polycarbonate roof?

The removal and disposal arrangements will be stated in your written quotation, so you know exactly what is included before work begins.

Will a new roof stop condensation?

Better insulation can reduce cold roof surfaces that contribute to condensation, but moisture can also be affected by heating, ventilation and how the room is used. We do not promise that a roof replacement alone will eliminate every condensation issue.

Can you replace the roof if my conservatory is leaking?

Often, but the source of the leak and the condition of the frames and supporting structure must be assessed first. The survey helps determine whether a roof replacement is appropriate or whether other remedial work is needed.
